printing and binding

I wanted to test out a couple of different cover methods and, therefore, a test out this kind of gross mushroom shade of Brown buckram. It's interesting, but I hate its texture, and I don't feel like it works in terms of a sustainability thing because the book talks about how mushrooms are breaking down materials using something that is plastic coated doesn't make sense.

I got these curved needles as they are meant to be easier to use in bookbinding.  But they are massive, so I'm gonna have to use the normal ones.

Under the normal spacing out on the street before trimming it as trimming it afterwards is way easier. It's unfortunate that. James wasn't in the print room because I feel like whenever he prints, they just come out a bit better. I feel like he puts in a bit more time and effort. Also, I had to pay double the price, I think coz it's double-sided. Be he said dad after paper for both sides of print which James never does. But I measured out to stop the hole with my awl.

I had some issues binding it, but it's fine.

It looks quite good and says it's going to be exposed bind that is lucky. I picked this slightly dark Brown shade of binding as it would fit with the mushrooms and the shade of paper and linen that I'm going to go with.

After that, I trimmed it down, which is the most nerve-wracking thing ever. I only have these bulldog clips, which makes the whole thing topple, so it's difficult to have it. Lay flat, but I think I did quite a good job.

option buckram

This is the book room option of cover. I just think it's too glossy, and it looks a bit. Weird. I don't feel like it suits not having a title on it.

linen

The linen is way more beautiful. The only issue is that I have to. So in this middle part. So you can't see the frayed edges when the endpaper are put in.

Spent the day sewing the book and the book cover essentially. And also, ironing the book cover, which is a weird process and waiting for it to dry.

attempting making endpaper

I was looking in the library shop the other day, and I wanted this dark green or like—dusty green colour for the endpaper. I couldn't find it, so in my mind, this is the perfect option to try making paper.

attempting making endpaper

I started trying to dye the paper using watercolours. I ended up using some ink that I had to aligning a printing from cop.

My jaunty setup of this old picture frame with wire in it and a tiny tub that wasn't big enough and me scooping the paper mass into it with her rific. It's still not dry, and it's been 5 hours.

It is now drying on my clothes horse. So we'll see how that turns out.
