actual photoshoot of the book evaluation

This project was a collaborative project between me and two others, are photographer and copywriter and an illustrator. The project is based around appealing to a cityscape be wanting to explore need more but wanting to learn but still a bit of a pretentious person That would love to have a coffee table book about mushrooms hanging about this project could also appeal to nature preserve this as it showcases the variety of mushrooms and the appeal of them as well as showcasing some rare species of mushrooms the design have been mainly based around grades as it linked to the topic but also allowed restrictions that lead to a more creative outlet.

In terms of the final outcome, I am really quite happy with this book. I sent it to both my collaborators, and they both loved it. I think the combination of white space text image and illustration works really quite well in this book as it does appeal to a city person with a bit of a quirky sense of taste, as I sent the photos to a couple of my mates that fit that description and ask their opinions on the book. If they would pick it up or not, they all said yes, which I think is really quite fun. They said they would fit really nice in a village type bookshop, and I agree, which was kind of what I was aiming for.

The linen cover reflects the idea of the mushroom fabrics that you can get it. When you pour water over it, you get mushrooms growing out of it. I had no way of sourcing that kind of material for the cover, and also, it would be ridiculous as not a physical hand in.

I bound it many times. As you know, there are many attempts of printing it outside out that printing out myself a better lineup than I could from the printing studio as James wasn’t there. It just didn’t turn out quite right. I think the paper stock is quite nice as it’s quite thin but sturdy. It's the bulky newsprint from the library. As it no longer has the glossy half side of it, it works really well in books and is quite affordable.

If I just print my book that way the first time around, it would’ve saved me a lot of money.

I think the small grid of the book works quite beautifully, and even though I made it, I don’t hate the book yet, which is quite a big feat for me. Because I always do, I ended up hating everything I make.

Hand stitching the spine fabric and the for the fabric to lay flat and then glued in the cover page for it as it allowed for a cleaner finished, and anything else I tried in my own paper did not work out

There isn’t much I would change about the physical outcome of this project. I’m quite happy with what I produced. I would like to change more so how I worked. I don’t feel like I spent my time quite right. It took me a long time to get into it, as well, and I forgot blogging for a while, and it like a bit messy that way.

In terms of collaboration, I think it went quite well with any collaboration project. It takes a lot longer to get it going because you are somewhat dependent on other people who are a more collaborative project that I initiated. They wanted to work with me than anything else. as just a lot of emails back-and-forth and revisions and colour changes and stuff like that, I feel like I could’ve been more organised though as my head was kind of jumbled through it all, I’m not also I don’t know how not to do that at the minute, so it is what it is
