final outcome

In order to get the research required for this brief, I interviewed some of the neighbours and their children piped in as they tend to do. this made me realise what type of marketing campaign i could to for this brief. I listened as they talked about what they noticed when they were out and about and it was never any of the commercial advertisements rather the graffiti and sometimes the street art. they said they never really pay much attention to the tumblers around the city.

Therefore more time was spent photographing graffiti wherever I could see it and found that most of them use soft and curved lines. using jagged lines, in contrast, would therefore be an interesting contrast to play with.

Having it as a dark background compared to a lighter one and making the green pop as the requirements for the colours are white, black and green colours. also the green and white would pop more when it is dark.  The idea of just doing simple stood out to me and not fully refine it as is normal, make more of it. sketch concept that could cross many platforms.

as a way of making a type of rule, i looked around a lot and the skylines in the local area are made up of triangle roofs and is somewhat reminiscent of an isometric grid. that is therefore the grid used in creating that typeface used in the marketing elements. Not necessarily following all the lines of the grid, but having that as a rule, as it would make it more focused.

I did experiment with you sitting readymades type and making more convert commercial type. But from my talk to the neighbours and the kids. It didn't make sense for them to view that and also with a commercial typeface, the idea later gets to smoothen too slick it gets loses a bit of the personality and the use of the quotes from the participants loses some of its impacts. Overall In my pouch of this brief, it is really quite consistent as these advertisements are made to be able to place wherever and be. Instantly recognisable as part of this campaign.

second edition development

I want to make a suggestion to have a bit of variations. I made the typeface for the other quote using the same method. On the isometric grid. I then took into illustrator and cleaned it up and like toggle a few parts of it to make it all fit better in the grid. As they see, the blue is the illustrator lines compared to the black which is the procreate lines.

I wanted to test out all the different colour combinations. Other figured out, but the best combination is black background, white squiggles and green text, but it also works with switching the green and white. It's just slightly less legible with a white text. Ask it usually is the case.

I felt it was slightly too cluttered with all the squiggles Sai removed, some of them and change the size of them and also added a photo. This allowed, but be a bit more visual interest to the whole thing. But it's still independent of what have seeing it, as it allows you to be put into that hole without being forced to. I added the logo as to give it a context and I do quite like it.  In my critique, they did say it was quite good, which brings me a bit of joy and I think I'm fine with this. I'm just going to mock up some placements of it for the submission and it should be fine. I think maybe some small tweaks.

presentation task 1

Where where I live back home isn't really a place where any design company is it's mainly in-house graphic designers.  I have therefore chosen this studio from Oslo which is realistically the place where I would live in work if I  moved back.   the studio uses a simple clean approach but a fun placement of images in terms of showcasing their work it's an approachable business as the even state that you can come and say hi hi if you're nearby.  I really quite like the simple design which is something I would want for my website.  the band plays around with convention in a fun way which I also quite like this is the day I would love to work out to be honest.  they showcase the individual people on their team it's not one faceless corporation just kind of nice and terms of you get the feel of who works there.

I found this page which is confusing page and I don't like it it's kind of disturbing us it all moves

around it's fun don't get me wrong but I don't think it's that user-friendly they give some personality.

this Leeds based design firm has a really slow website and Astley work with digital design it doesn't make sense the visual elements of it is really fun and interesting but I don't think the website for trees what a client would want from them.

studio that works closely with coding and creating new apps and website it's basin are slow but it's barely international brand but they also work with big clients.  it's an approachable turn a voice on the website it doesn't seem like that better than you it seems fellow friendly as I met the people  they are very friendly in person as well which gives them a boost in my book.

I love this website passport is is it's neat but it's kind of quirky in the use of animation on the website.   every website has had animation on the website and I feel like this works in the matter how you do it really.  the layout and instructions each project in composites in terms of what kind of design is used I really love cos it's easier to manoeuvre the website.  it is also so quite a friendly about page.

I was thinking of different names that I could use for myself and I want it to be type related possibly or functionally Norwegian and English whilst having a bit of Personality to it.  I also didn't want the name to start with an s as I find that letter to be the most difficult and I often don't like them.  I tested out a few but after talking to some of my peers they all agree that this was the best option to be had as it relates to both my childhood Norwegian English functions in both it's just the pronunciation and a bit of a spelling that's slightly off and both in English and Norwegian it is type related,  as it means italic. this about a few typefaces and I found one that I wanted to have us headline typeface which is the swirly serif typeface or that he been too much.  I've ever wanted a sans serif typeface for the logo as it would be cleaner and translate across platforms quite easily. I wanted to be slightly bold but not heavy so therefore decided on Gotham Medium and slightly tilted it after make it not fully italic but have a slant.

Simple website type of luck to 100% the work what is similar to the way that the two companies that have decided to focus on Passport and Neue. I wanted to add a bit more so the of having an animated line that's all I crave slowly through would be really cool.  I think realistically the images need to be different sizes depending on how big is a fat loss or how good that outcome and have being.

in the talk with my peers, we went through the statement of intent and they picked up on the type of later designs but having it in the present tense, not past tense and showcasing the idea that the Outcome is dependent on what the project needs. so  I wrote this one before the but I edited it afterwards.

Throughout my design practice,

I am drawn to typographic approaches.

It is always about the intended message no matter what. the approach

I think there's a sign for the presentation us I imagine they'll give us more feedback on it.

development

Before I set out to make my own typeface, I wanted to make sure that you say typeface wouldn't work for it. I therefore collated a fair few typefaces that I thought might be applicable to the target audience, and some that really weren't. But I wanted to test out how it was with the colours. As the brief states that you have to use the key for live colours, which is white black in this horrible green. It kind of works together, but it's not my favourite I guess.

I started off looking at coding typefaces which might work and how it look in all caps and mixed. I do quite like this first one. On the 2nd to last one. But all the other ones are kinda horrible and I don't feel like they'd work in appealing to the audience. I feel like the second to last one also doesn't quite hit the mark in that regards.

I tested out a few of the typefaces that I kinda liked and the ones that I did like, but kind of came to towns with the script. One is horrible and it's not legible. The serif font Looks too posh and it would probably not appeal to the target audience. The coding ones kinda cool. But I feel like it's kinda blonde and a bit too on the nose for the target audience.

I tried mixing the colours stop and having green background, but it's the worst thing I've ever seen. The green colour doesn't suit. Being Anon bigger scale, so I think having a black or white background is the way to go, but actually definitely black background, close white and that green doesn't go along that well. As you can see on the logo its kinda, legible when it's smaller.

I then started making my type on this isometric grid. And I really like it. I've been having fun making the letters I tested out A fair few S-es as They're the ones

The all the most difficult to me.

I played around with fully following the grid and also broken it every now and then and I think breaking it every now and then is the way to go about it because it showcases this less rigid style of it as it's all angles.

I was having some issues with the w, I've been drawing it all in procreate as I found it the easiest in terms of just getting it all out there. It seems less final than illustrator.

I've mainly just been trying to figure out the balance of the width of the letters working together in harmony without it being too rigid. And have some Letters have more say In terms of width or size.

I was having a good time drawing the typeface I wanted to test it out. How would look if it was an actual typeface would be right across? And I like some of the letters the t and r are are quite interesting to me. But I decided to go with the diagonal layout as I found it more dynamic.

As you can see here, the green on the white background is. It kind of hurts your eyes a bit. And that's why it's not going to be the final one.

I applied the typeface and cleaned it up and Illustrator asked to remove some of the unevenness and just tidying up a bit. And I put the logo on there. Buffalo that it was quite empty, so I added this just quick brush strokes that I did in procreate.

And I really quite like it. The slightly off piste and I tried to see how far I could push it before it came weird and I think less is more in a way. I tested out the opacity and playing around with it, but I think it needs to be fully white, but you needs something else.

I still wasn't fully settled on this and I felt like a home done enough development so tested out this stencil typeface, but it looks like a horror film poster. It might be because I've done the thing with the big words every now and then, but. It just gives me this. Horror film energyI tried something so that mixing it with others typefaces, but it's not working. .

I tried to play with the background a bit and I just did a little like different brush strokes and created this weird pattern which seems algae like. It's not what I want for this, so it's not going to happen, but I do think it's cool effect. But just not for this.
