crit Passion project task 3

I did find passion projects scouring the internet, but ending up on it's nice that they allow you to filter for what you want. As most passion projects develop into others, it can be quite difficult to explore further.
This website was a way to promote Dinamo new variable typeface. It is a playful website that allows designers to explore the possibilities of the typeface. As it is type relevant, it piqued my interests. The playful approach is something I would like to implement more in my final products as most of my work has an obvious Scandinavian appeal.

showcasing culture and art in a creative way beautifully designed
giving the Canadian based bolk design studio some traction whilst showcasing known and unknown artist from Mexico honouring the birth pace of her children.

"“We have come to understand our role as designers as not always creating the biggest change, but sometimes, simple gestures carry the furthest,” says Vanessa Eckstein, creative director of the Toronto-based design studio, Blok." from its nice that

These north types and the people-powered printing press.
The press is used to voice smaller Yorkshire communities, a true passion project that escalated to much bigger things. The split studio is now known for the people-powered press and These northern types. Last year I interviewed Oli as I had issues finding passion projects as most people don't promote that as much.

From my interview last year,

this feels like the most relevant one for how I operate. I hate promoting myself, but unfortunately, I weirdly like this industry, so here we are.

"Do you ever feel weird about promoting your own work?

I've hidden behind the name Split for 12 years. Not many months ago, we actually put it out there on the internet that Split is the studio. It’s my studio. Even though all our clients, they know that.
But it's terrifying to put yourself out there. When I first started, I trained as a musician as well. And I had to make this choice between being a musician. Along with many other things, I found it a bit easier promoting Split studios, whereas as a musician, it was me.

There is more to Split than me now. There have been many people contributing to what Split is today. I would never say that Split is me, but I am aware that I feel much more comfortable it not being my name when promoting it.

When we promote work, I have a golden rule: We can’t say it's good. We can't decide that. We can have confidence in the work, and we can put it up for people to see, but we can't tell anyone it's good. And mean, we will probably hate it in six months anyway!"

The task aiming to figure out a passion project I really found the People-powered press interesting as what I figured out is that I would love to make my own letterpress type as that would allow me to have a Norwegian typeface for letterpress. this typeface would be a way for me to marked myself.

ideas

1/3 Norwegians want out of the Schengen agreement because it “threatens the culture”. By this, they, in essence, mean that they want to close the borders ai. Brexit.  I’d love to work on something that destigmatizes immigrants for the older population in the outskirts of Norway. As they are the majority that feels that way. It would be a project that focuses on inclusion. Hopefully, collaboration with a wide variety of artists focused on inclusion and living in Norway for anyone. This includes immigrants, second-generation immigrants, Sami, adopted, ethnically Norwegians, and anyone who wants to participate.

Use public space to encourage people to brighten up peoples day or get people to do something.

using type obviously

I would love to make my own letterpress with my own type that could be used on posters or clothing. I don’t feel like it is realistic, but it would be amazing, and it could be useful in processes. I tried to do it for COP, but the print room staff said it would not be worth it, so instead of arguing with them, I made stamps. It would not need to be big or anything.

I have chosen to go with the last one as I would have more joy working on that.

I had my crit today. Nick said the idea of making my own wood typeface seems really interesting and utilising it to showcase my culture, and just I seem a quite applicable and useful thing to do for 603. the issue is that I'd need to make my own typeface cut it, and print with it before the end of the year, but the good thing is I could use that wouldn't type and sort of fake a would printing press at home wherever I end up. I kind of wanna base the typeface on me. Either body shape or personality traits either would work, in my opinion, and I feel like I could have some fun with it. If I were to do this, I could produce prints and solve them as well, and I could have a bit of extra income, which would be amazing. The posters would start with saying in Norwegian that my grandma told me.

Hei, I am a graphic designer that loves to play and work with a range of projects. I have a love of typography and layout. I both like to make typefaces and work with existing ones. This love of typography is translated to print and digital design, working with image and illustrations to portray the intended message. In my university degree, I have explored many aspects of graphic design and explored problem-solving for clients, competitions, and a team, ensuring each brief is responded to individually to ensure a well thought out and researched outcome.
