I was doing some Brainstorming in terms of what to do for the end of year show Marketing. I want it to be related to how this year has been for many people and shed light on that whilst having it open enough. I ended up going with. Circumstances asked the name of the show. Because I feel like it. Showcases how this year have been for many people. It's been uncertain and not a stable year for most. Some people have had it really bad, and it kind of feels like the Uni's kind of forgotten about some of the lesser. Lucky people. I wanted it to be a somewhat type based project by also wanted to utilise some visual elements.
I took one of the typefaces that I made over the summer. As it had the type of energy that I'd want for the brief. I changed it a bit to make it more of a cohesive typeface as it had room for improvement when I made it. I tried to do it with some simple type, but it just didn't work, in my opinion, as it seemed too impersonal, and I wanted to do a typeface that I made. So I started changing this typeface that I already made. Making the words interlock and Create this uncertain but stable Typeface that should emulate the feelings of a lot of students. Ask the finally. Students are fairly secure in their own way of doing the type of creative process. The whole surroundings of that have been uncertain in a weird circumstance this year.
What I did manage to do is to misspell it for the first like the day of working on it. That's great. The initial idea of using the grid paper texture to it just didn't sit right with me, and I didn't like the typeface that put with it, so it's just all wrong.
I decided to play around with some shapes and colours that I found quite interesting and marbleized them, which I know the teachers hate. But I thought to create this uneasy feeling, doing that would suit quite well. I made this as a pattern more than an actual thing initially. Because I wanted it to be a texture type pattern that the type could be in. Turns out I hate it, so it's not going to be used as it's too colourful, and I think I'd rather have it be tones of colours or black and white.
I went away from the different colours, shapes and marbleised texture and started working and after-effects to create this bubble warp texture that I found interesting. I spent some time trying to figure out how to do it. It also made my computer crash. Which was fun. I then took a still photo and used it for the background. Emulate this image quality that I'd want for the branding. So that it is not all type. This could also be used across media with us. An animated element in that the waves move, And that there is no certainty with it all. It's not one set. Still, it's a thing of change, and it can be used for anything. I started doing it in this beige colour by hate it, so I switch it to this purple, blue colour to represent the student cards when we started.
I asked a few people for feedback on how the typeface worked on the background with the circles on it to see if it was legible. I got some feedback saying that I needed tweaking, which is quite an easy sort. And they really quite liked the overall design, which gave me quite a bit of a boost.
As I found out that I spelt the name of the show I had to read it all of my things that I’ve made for it into the right spelt one the worst part is that I have the right spelling of it on the same sheet I just didn’t look at it because in my mind it doesn’t make sense to start with a u
I redid the motions of it so it could be an animation for the presentation I also saved the files as individual freeze frames so I could use it in the design to make it varied
